Proper care extends the life of your art prints from years to decades. Here is what you need to know about display and preservation.
Framing for Protection
UV-protective glass or acrylic filters up to 99% of harmful ultraviolet light, which is the primary cause of ink fading. Museum glass offers the highest protection with minimal glare. Even archival inks benefit from UV-filtering glazing.
Hanging Location
Avoid direct sunlight — even with UV-protective glazing, prolonged exposure degrades paper and inks over time. Choose interior walls away from windows, or use curtains and UV-filtering window film in sunny rooms.
Humidity and Temperature
Maintain room humidity between 40-60%. High humidity promotes mold growth and paper warping; low humidity causes brittleness. Avoid hanging prints near bathrooms, kitchens, or heating vents.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Dust frames gently with a soft, dry cloth. Never use glass cleaner on the framed artwork — moisture can seep behind the glass and damage the print. For unframed canvas prints, use a dry microfiber cloth to remove dust.
